This supports subselects and Unicode.

Is there an argument for moving to it before we start converting lots of
database stuff? It would prevent us having to write subselect emulation
cruft.

Is there an argument for moving to it before we get start using Unicode
throughout? Presumably Unicode support means you can store it as text
rather than binary.

I love this quote:

Noted Michael "Monty" Widenius, MySQL CTO and co-founder, "Any software
we release, regardless of version or stage, is free of all known bugs."
