Should the assignee see the deadline independently of his privs?

Hi all,

While talking with a contributor about bug 432976 [1], I said you
couldn't currently let an assignee know that he is close to the deadline
unless this assignee is in the timetracking group (else you would
disclose what is currently considered as confidential information). Then
the question was: how is it useful to set the deadline for bugs if
assignees cannot see it? I think this question is pertinent, and I think
that's the only time-related field (i.e. amongst those affected by the
timetracking group) whose visibility shouldn't be affected by the
timetracking group. Or to be more precise, I think that the deadline
should be visible to everybody (to logged in users only? IMO, useless
complexity if the answer is yes), but only members of the timetracking
group should be allowed to edit it. Other time-related fields do not
need to be visible to the assignee, because this shouldn't affect his work.

Would there be objections if we relax the deadline *visibility* to
everybody, but still require timetracking privs to edit it?

LpSolit
