Weave uses it quite deliberately and we try to keep it reflecting
reality as much as possible, FWIW.  We could make it a per-product UI
choice, and products that have active milestone other than the default
would display it, and other products wouldn't have it at all.  I am
pretty sure that other projects on b.m.o. use this field as part of
their workflow.
