No reason to do this. Those settings never change and are set by 
checksetup.pl. They are not something you can edit.

Moreover, when doing an upgrade, you have to copy the whole data/ 
directory, not only data/params. Old charts have data in data/mining/ 
and local attachments are stored in data/attachments/. You need them 
when upgrading and so you have to backup data/ anyway.
