What kind of home page for Bugzilla?

I see Gerv's point, and given that TT can handle RSS, it is easy to
provide that functionality (from what little I read about it.) But for
sites that want something simple, there is no compelling reason not to
make this database backed in a simple way: that will address 80-90% of
cases in a simple way. If you want more than that, you go all the way
with RSS.

So my view is that this isn't a case of one or the other: both could
coexist.

It comes down, of course, to someone putting a patch together and
making it available for integration. Time to put some money where my
mouth is, I think...
