Great, so every time I need to provide news to my users, I have to log
into the bz machine and change the index page manually, instead of
using the existing BZ admin interface. Ass backwards.

This isn't a wheel to reinvent. It's a trivial piece of functionality
that would be useful to, I expect, a wide number of sites, and
wouldn't require a lot of work.
Why should I go out and install blogging software for this.
