Stalled custom field development

Hi,

Lets try this again. The custom field bug has been open for 1353 days. 
The bugzilla team still can't make up its mind on how the schema should 
look. Analysis Paralysis (http://c2.com/cgi-bin/wiki?AnalysisParalysis ) 
has set in. In the mean time anybody who is foolish enough to work on 
this will be wasting his/her time.

Dave Miller please pick a schema so everybody can move on.
