Maybe I'm missing something here (and JP will probably jump in to 
reassure me that I am) but I don't see how new contributors are being 
treated badly. No-one's being rude to them, or telling them their 
contributions are worthless. Contributions may not have been looked at 
very quickly, but that's the time problem - fixing that requires having 
more time, it doesn't generate more time.

There have been disagreements on the right thing to do, sure - but 
that's what happens with more than one person working on a project. I'm 
sure you're not advocating that we agree with everything new 
contributors say in order to make them feel accepted.
