Default version for new bugs?

A default version would be good yes, but I would not like to lose the
cookie-override completely.

It could possibly be documented better, or perhaps there could be a
simple notification on the GUI when the version is obtained from a
cookie, but I know that I use that feature quite a bit when I get
stuck on maintaining older versions of software.
