Flags and the 2.18 push

I don't see why not -- it's certainly better than using the whiteboard.
The only thing that could be a problem is the proliferation of flags, so
it might make sense to only use one flag for each branch and not
individual versions. 

I guess you can always delete the flag lateron, though.
