This question is better asked of people other than me, because I haven't 
actually been working on this feature and I'm not very familiar with it 
other than the fact that it's there. :)  I'm forwarding this to the 
developers list so others who might have worked with it can answer.

Hi Dave,

in case you miss the email from all the noise, i have uploaded a patch
for shared queries against the development version of Bugzilla (2.17.4)
(Bug ID 69000)

We have also done some work, modifications, bugfixes for the custom
fields (Bug ID 91037). We would like to submit it back, however, our
changes were made to version 2.16 of Bugzilla and it will be a bit of
work to get it up to the 2.16.3 version of bugzilla. Before we commit to
this work, we would like to get an idea of how mature this feature is
and what is the likelihood of this feature making it to the 2.18
release?
