upgrade support

If your database is MySQL 8+ that would probably be why. MySQL made 
breaking changes in their syntax that broke Bugzilla. It will work again 
with it eventually, but currently doesn't. I would recommend going with 
5.0.6 at this point rather than 4.4.  Version 4.4 is about to get 
end-of-lifed within the next few months.

If you have the ability to change database servers, I would recommend 
MariaDB at this point. It's mostly a drop-in replacement for MySQL (you 
can tell Bugzilla that it's MySQL and it'll work), Ubuntu has packages 
for it, and they didn't pick up the change that broke Bugzilla.  If you 
can't change to MariaDB, see if you can stall another month or two (the 
MySQL 8 support will be landing soon).
