bug data from Bugzilla 2.2.2 to Bugzilla 4.2.5

I just currently built a new server. On the server, I installed Bugzilla
4.2.5 as well as the latest versions or perl, mysql, apache, etc....

My previous installation of Bugzilla was 2.2.2 is installed on a server
reaching end of life.

My initial plans was for my team to start using 4.2.5 with any new bugs.
There would be no legacy data on the new install. My team really likes
4.2.5, some of the functionality like "Deadline, Orig. Estimations, etc..

There has been to custom fields or anything changes to the Out Of The Box
UI.

Now that old server is about to be taken down and out of business. My team
is asking if I can import the data from Bugzilla 2.2.2 and store it as
archive data.

I am afraid that the versions are so far apart, that the database schema's
has to be different. And this can not be a easy migration. I have seen
post about how to migrate the old database to new Bugzilla install. They
create a new bugs database and places the data there.

But I don't want to lose anything from 4.2.5. I want to keep all the tables
and fields from 4.2.5.

Is it possible to have a separate project in Bugzilla 4.2.5 that reads from
a different database other than bugs. That project can be a archive project
and used only for reading. So then I could create a achieve_bugs data and
migrate old data to it?

I am open to any suggestions or procedures that will do what I am asking.

Quick Rehash:
Bugzilla 4.2.5 up and running on a new server.
Want to add Bugzilla 2.2.2 data without interfering with 4.2.5
functionality.
