One problem with this is that, AFAIK, MediaWiki has no "Copy Tree"
function which would allow us to say:

"Take everything under http://wiki.bugzilla.org/docs/trunk and copy it
to http://wiki.bugzilla.org/docs/4.4".

If there is such an extension, point me at it :-)

The second is that it's much harder to apply a patch to multiple
branches on a wiki which is only editable over the web.
