what's wrong with having different namespaces:
http://wiki.bugzilla.org/docs/4.0/en/html/
http://wiki.bugzilla.org/docs/4.2/en/html/
there are many mediawiki extensions which will allow us to restrict
editing of pages once we want to freeze the docs for a version.
