80-character comments: does it matter?

I prefer to get rid of server-side comment wrapping. In my case, people
often submit patches <verbatim> text, with valid > 80 columns, and the
auto-wrapping screws it up. Yes, they could have used attachments, yet it's
more straightforward to add a comment for a small amount of text.
