Oracle Error Handling of values larger than max value of int

Quick question, during development of the mssql port I ran across an issue
where mssql will throw a fatal error vs mysql silently altering data.

numeric values greater than 2147483647 throw 'Numeric value out of range'

I'm curious how oracle handles this issue?
The test is to use quicksearch and enter 10 or more 9's and hit search.
Error or just the not found message?
