"I'm Using" search field

I was thinking... the Quick Search
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/query.cgi?format=specific
is all very well, but it's hard to set the controls to include the exact
set of bugs you normally want.
Say I'm using Firefox 3, about 3 months after release, and find a bug. I
want to go and see if it's filed. How do I set the controls?
Status: "Open" will miss out bugs fixed in the past three months, which
may include mine. This leads to duplicates.
"Closed" is clearly a non-starter.
"All" will give me a lot of noise in my results.
Product: "Firefox" will miss out Core bugs.
"All" will give me a lot of noise in my results.
It seems to me that what you really want is to abolish both those
fields, and replace it with an "I'm Using" field.
I'm Using: "Firefox 3 Final"
This would then search all bugs which are open, or have been closed
since the Firefox 3 Final release date, in the products Firefox, Core,
and Toolkit. (Probably not NSPR or NSS).
So we could probably do this as a custom template. But I'm wondering: is
it possible to do it generically, using Product names concatenated with
either Version or Target Milestone features, with a bit of extra config
for the release date and the extra products to search?
Perhaps that's over-engineering, and we should just do the custom
template...
