Search by comparing a field to another field? (eg: deadline)

At NASA we have a lot of requests for custom search columns such as
"last date that Resolution was changed". A column like this can easily
be compared to the deadline column in Excel if you export the search
to CSV.
What does everybody think about formalizing synthetic search columns
for upstream Bugzilla?
