autoconf

Ok, I'm new to the list, so forgive me if this is a FAQ...

Why doesn't the Bugzilla install use autoconf?

Just copying the directory obviously works, but wouldn't it be "cleaner"
for people to just run:
	./configure
	make install

I know it seems like a lot of overhead in the current system, but at
some point the install process may be a little more complicated. At the
very least, we could remove the README, UPGRADING, etc. files in a
"working dir".

Thoughts?

Also, is there any way to search the mail list archives? It seems to
require an email address to browse. I believe this means that Google
won't index them.
