okay it is probably that RHEL cannot handle perl mixed with mysql 4, I
have a set of compat rpms/srpms to fix that that we use here.
but before, just want to check the RPMs first
# rpm -qa | grep -iE 'mysql|perl' | xargs rpm -V
can we take MySQL down for 5 minutes, if needed?
