Since my email to qa at bugzilla.org last week, we have made a lot of
progress with our Selenium installation on landfill. Now, the
installation is complete and is running properly.
As not everybody has joined #qa-bugzilla yet, here is a brief summary of
the last news from the QA world:
- What is Selenium? It's a great tool to automatically test Bugzilla.
While tests found in bugzilla/t mainly test the syntax of files only,
Selenium allows you to test Bugzilla as if you were playing with it from
your web browser yourself.... except that you are sleeping while tests
are being done *automatically*. ;)
- http://landfill.bugzilla.org/selenium/bugzilla/index.html is our start
page to all Bugzilla installations being tested. You can freely test
them from your web browser by following one of the links. Note that I am
talking about QA tests, which have nothing to do with tests already run
by tinderboxes, see my previous comment.
- I finally reached to make Selenium work from runtests.pl, thanks to
the author of Test::WWW::Selenium who gave me valuable advice.
runtests.pl is now running from a VNC session and its output is
available at:
http://landfill.bugzilla.org/selenium/bugzilla/test/qa-output.log
This link is also available from the page mentioned above. Don't be
surprised if you see only a very small set of tests available so far. I
first had to complete the Selenium installation before being able to
write QA scripts.
- I have written a page about the QA team and its work on MozillaWiki:
http://wiki.mozilla.org/Bugzilla:QA
This page contains many useful information for those who want to help
writing some scripts. The more QA tests we have, the less we will have
to do manually.
- And finally, I want to mention bug 317695 on bugzilla.mozilla.org
where you can find some useful scripts to help you writing scripts.
That's also the place to submit yours. No need to request approval, I
will manage them myself (I don't expect to see a lot of contribution
outside the QA team anyway; am I wrong?).
- And if you have questions, remarks or suggestions, you can find me on
IRC in #qa-bugzilla.
