Two things.

1. I did a lot of work on the proposed core (PLIF) but inexperience in
designing that kind of system led me to design a "perfect" system, with
the side-effect that it was ridiculously over-engineered and thus insanely
slow and bloated.

I actually still use that engine to power, amongst other things, my blog.
It has definite performance issues that have actually been a problem even
in my small-use scenarios. I'm working on making it better, but I doubt it
will ever be suitable for large-scale enterprise software like Bugzilla.

I actually quite like PLIF, it's a fun toy to work on. But that's all it
is, really, a toy.

2. I got hired by Opera Software and now have less than zero time to
devote to that kind of project, with no likelihood of any time appearing
within the next two or three years.

I recently reassigned all the B3 bugs I had assigned to me back to the
default assignee.

I still think there are a lot of things that were in the original
proposals that Bugzilla should do. Some of them are being done on the 2.x
codebase. When I started doing this, a number of people said "we should
just do this incrementally". I'm slightly older now, and slightly wiser,
and would now tend to agree.
