It transports a message such as the following:

Note that the username of the user commiting is transported (a better
security scheme is needed). The custom server maps usernames to actual
email addresses (bugzilla usernames) and calls functions provided in
globals.pl. The custom server reads the mysql  database
username/password from a configuration file, and uses that with
globals.pl.
