These changes will be contentious, so to avoid delaying custom 
resolutions, which lots of existing installations want, I suggest you 
split your work on updating the defaults into a new bug and do that 
after custom resolutions goes in.  It'll make both patches go in more 
easily (but particularly custom resolutions).
