I apologise unreservedly to Shane if he got the impression that I was 
being rude about his offer of help. That would be my fault for not 
making myself clear.

But I should add that with 244 messages in my Inbox, the vast majority 
of which are people asking me to do something, I'm not able to spend as 
much time on each reply as I'd like. Therefore, I would ask people 
please to bear with me if my communications are unclear, and try and 
interpret them in a light which doesn't cause offence - because that's 
almost certainly what I meant. :-)
