You da man! I was so intimidated by the long list of patches, that
it escaped me that there was a single patch against 2.17.4. Have
successfully applied patch, and will be loading on a machine to try. I
will certainly let everyone know how it goes (I could quickly become an
EXTREME advocate for inclusion of custom fields in the next development
version!)
