They were running a pretty old version of Bugzilla, and Pier stated on
the Jakarta mailing list that he was fed up with maintaining it. I think
this was just a case of a tiny group of people making a decision based
on their personal opinions (which may be well justified, but since he
hasn't publically stated them, it's hard to find out).

I filed a bug to help him update the query.cgi Javascript, for instance,
which was `as slow as molasses', and volunteered to do it for them, but
I was ignored and it was said that it would be done "when the next
upgrade was done". I suppose it never will.

Not that we don't have a lot of improving to do -- the UI stands out as
the real problem on our side, given that the functionality, stability
and scalability are very nice. I'm planning on doing work in this area
(if people let me) as soon as I get some time off.
