This advisory covers one security issue that has recently been fixed in the Bugzilla code: * Bug reporters could confirm their bugs and change their bugs' statuses, even if they didn't have the appropriate permissions. All affected installations are encouraged to upgrade as soon as possible. Vulnerability Details ===================== Class: Unauthorized Bug Change Versions: 3.1.1 through 3.2.3, 3.3.1 through 3.3.4 Fixed In: 3.2.4, 3.4rc1 Description: Users could, in some situations, confirm bugs even if they weren't in the canconfirm group, or set a bug to statuses that they normally didn't have access to. (For example, bug reporters who had no permissions could set their bug to any status, while they are only supposed to be able to close their bug.) Reference: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=495257 Vulnerability Solutions ======================= The fix for the security bug mentioned in this advisory is included in the 3.4rc1 and 3.2.4 releases. From mkanat at bugzilla.org Wed Jul 8 15:04:23 2009 From: mkanat at bugzilla.org (Max Kanat-Alexander) Date: Wed, 08 Jul 2009 08:04:23 -0700 Subject: [ANN] Release of Bugzilla 3.4rc1 and 3.2.4 Message-ID: <4A54B577.40605@bugzilla.org> We are releasing two versions of Bugzilla today, 3.4rc1 and 3.2.4. Bugzilla 3.4rc1 is our first Release Candiate for Bugzilla 3.4. This release has received QA testing, and should be considerably more stable than the development releases before it. It is still not considered fully stable, and so you should understand that if you use it, you use it at your own risk. However, it should be fine for smaller or non-critical production installations. If feedback from this release candidate indicates that it is mostly stable, then Bugzilla 3.4 will be released in a few weeks. If feedback indicates that more extensive fixes are needed, there may be another release candidate after this one. Bugzilla 3.2.4 is the latest update in the 3.2 stable series. It contains various useful bug fixes. Both of today's releases contain a security fix. Please see our latest Security Advisory for details. Defect Tracking Systems allow individuals or groups of developers to keep track of outstanding bugs in their product effectively. Most commercial defect-tracking software vendors charge enormous licensing fees. Despite being "free", Bugzilla has many features its expensive counterparts lack. Consequently, Bugzilla has quickly become a favorite of hundreds of organizations across the globe, and is widely regarded as one of the top defect-tracking systems available. Message-ID: <4A6ED632.8090000@bugzilla.org> Today we are pround to announce Bugzilla 3.4, a new major release from the Bugzilla Project! Bugzilla 3.4 contains a LOT of great new features, including: * A greatly-simplified bug-filing page. * A new front page for Bugzilla. * Users' email addresses are now hidden from logged-out users (helps prevent users receiving spam). * Emails can be sent in the background (which greatly speeds up editing bugs). * URLs of searches are now much shorter, so they can be more easily shared. * Exciting new custom field enhancements. * A field that allows you to refer to bugs in other Bugzillas. And lots of other exciting new features! You can see the complete list here in the Release Notes: http://www.bugzilla.org/releases/3.4/release-notes.html#v34_feat Note that this release also marks the End of Life for the Bugzilla 2.22.x series. This means that there will be no further updates released for Bugzilla 2.22.x, even if there are security holes found in that series. If you are running Bugzilla 2.22.x, we recommend that you upgrade to 3.4 immediately.
