Could you be specific? I'm not trying to troll here, but I'd like to 
understand what complex queries are actually effective today and would not 
be if most of our metadata was optional.

In bugzilla.mozilla.org, having required metadata, which is either guessed 
or asked from the bug submitter, makes the overall quality of the metadata 
pretty poor. Nobody knows or can agree on what the "OS" field means. Many 
fields such as priority only make sense in the context of the bug already 
having been triaged and/or assigned to an owner. The severity field has 
meaning, but other than "blocker" "crash" and "enhancement" the severity 
values are pretty meaningless.
